Lakeshore Talent is partnered with a prestigious and growing healthcare network in their search for several Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialists. These specialists will be supporting a hospital system based in Centennial, CO.
We are seeking registered nurses with a broad clinical knowledge base and excellent understanding of clinical documentation improvement strategies and requirements, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, to work independently a majority of the time with a high degree of autonomy.
Location: Centennial, CO – after an on-site training period, specialists will work remotely
Pay: $29 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to content development, education and training materials, and ongoing service line documentation improvement initiatives
- Facilitate and obtain appropriate provider documentation for any clinical conditions or procedures to support the appropriate severity of illness, expected risk of mortality, and complexity of patient care
- Educate members of the patient care team regarding clinical documentation guidelines and regulatory requirements, including attending physicians, allied health practitioners, nursing, coding and case management
- Support timely, accurate, and complete documentation of clinical information used for measuring and reporting hospital and physician-based outcomes
- Identify quality of care issues in documentation and seek resolution of issues
- Assist in improving the overall quality and completeness of provider clinical documentation by performing admission and continued stay reviews utilizing clinical documentation strategies and official coding guidelines
- Perform secondary review of patient records identified as high-risk DRGs to ensure that clinical documentation supports codes at the highest level of specificity
- Assist with clinical validation efforts related to denials management initiatives
- Initiate special CDI projects for process improvement
- Analyze CDI data, prepare presentations, and conduct meetings to share findings
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Nursing is required, BSN is preferred
- CO RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC, required
- Certified Document Improvement Practitioner, preferred
- 3+ years of nursing experience in the inpatient hospital setting (critical care and/or med/surg experience preferred)
- Prior CDI Specialist work experience
- Prior CDEone work experience
- Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, analytical, organization, and writing skills
Contract Length: 3 months to start with potential for extension and/or permanent hire
