Job Summary: As a Senior SCADA Engineer, you will manage and enhance the IT/OT components of our SCADA systems, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and security. You will lead large-scale projects, resolve complex technical issues, and mentor team members while playing a crucial role in the organization’s operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements, Design, and Strategy:

  • Understand and design SCADA infrastructure for monitoring and control.
  • Implement and maintain scalable, reliable SCADA systems integrated with IT/OT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to align SCADA solutions with business needs.
  • Communicate effectively with end users regarding system updates and changes.

Optimization, Maintenance, and Support:

  • Optimize SCADA performance for real-time monitoring and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards.
  • Maintain and support SCADA systems, including server maintenance and system monitoring.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for project work and support.
  • Develop automated monitoring solutions to enhance system efficiency.

Documentation and Training:

  • Document SCADA system design and architecture.
  • Stay updated on SCADA trends and best practices, particularly in emissions monitoring.
  • Mentor and train team members on system use and enhancements.

 

Required Skills: 

Technical Skills

  • Experience in the oil and natural gas industry, including production accounting and automation.
  • Extensive SCADA experience; familiarity with CygNet and/or Wonderware is a plus.
  • Proficient in data querying and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic decision-making skills.

  • Proven leadership with the ability to mentor and collaborate across departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, focused on team performance.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience required.
  • Five or more years of additional experience in SCADA systems may substitute for a degree..
  • Plus if you have familiarity with CygNet and/or Wonderware.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Indoor working environment requiring repetitive motions and operation of standard office equipment.
  • Some travel (up to 30%) may be required.

Required: 

  • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in oil and/or natural gas industry. Knowledge may include standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements. Production accounting, measurements systems, automation experience a plus.
  • Extensive SCADA experience required. Experience with CygNet and/or Wonderware a plus; familiarity with both systems is a significant advantage. SCADA understanding should include components, protocols and application in various industries.    Last Updated 9/19/2024
  • Skilled in optimizing and troubleshooting complex system architectures, ensuring robust performance and reliability.
  • Proficient in data querying and visualization tools (examples may include SQL, Python, Power BI, Spotfire, etc).
  • Proven track record of reducing system errors, preventing data loss, improving system performance, and ensuring system resilience.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset for decision-making in complex, dynamic environments.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-departmentally, mentor team members, and influence organizational success.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a focus on driving team performance and alignment.

Pay is based on experience.
