Lakeshore Talent is partnering with a well known Non-Profit association in their search for a diligent and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where your skills in financial analysis, reporting, and general accounting practices will contribute to our continued success. This position offers hybrid flexibility with one day/week in office; and flexible working hours daily!
Pay- $25-28/hr, depending on experience
Assignment Length – 4 months with potential for extension or hire
Responsibilities:
- Audit expense reports and process direct payments, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Review requisitions and vendor invoices, verify project codes, and handle periodic check runs, including distributing checks.
- Communicate with vendors to collect EFT banking information and resolve accounts payable issues.
- Reconcile accounts payable, including UPS, shipping, airfare, and others, and assist with month-end/year-end close and journal entries.
- Maintain digital and hard copy accounts payable records, contributing to financial audits and annual budgeting.
- Compile CEO travel reimbursements for quarterly submission to the Board of Directors.
- Provide reports, respond to employee inquiries on accounts payable, and support leadership as needed.
- Uphold corporate policies and prioritize tasks aligned with organizational goals and values.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred
- 1+ years of proven experience within Accounts Payable
- Experience in government, non-profit, or education, preferred
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Advanced skills within Excel, preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA is a plus
