Job Title: Staff Accountant (Oil & Gas)
Location: Denver, Cherry Creek Neighborhood
Job Type: Contract (3-6 months)

Pay Rate: $31-38/hr DOE
About the Role:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team on a 3-6 month contract while we hire for full-time positions. This role is ideal for an accountant with 2-3 years of experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry (though not required). The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting operations and will be required to work on-site daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- AFE Creation – Prepare and manage Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documentation.
- JIB Accounts Receivable Booking – Process Joint Interest Billing (JIB) transactions accurately.
- Recurring Entry Preparation – Assist in creating and managing recurring journal entries.
- Trial Balance Updates – Refresh and review trial balances for accuracy.
- Vendor Setup & Review – Ensure correct setup of new vendors, including 1099 suppression as needed.
- GL Period Management – Open and close General Ledger periods in all corporate entities within Enertia.
- Reconciliation Management – Roll monthly reconciliations and ensure accuracy.
- Journal Entries (JEs) – Prepare and post standard monthly journal entries.
- Intercompany Reconciliation – Manage and reconcile intercompany accounts.
- Cleanup & Adjusting Entries – Process monthly cleanup entries to maintain financial integrity.
- Financial Reporting – Assist in preparing monthly financials and updating reconciliations.
- ASC 842 Lease Accounting – Set up new leases under ASC 842 guidelines.
- Maintain Monthly Checklist – Ensure all assigned accounting tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2-3 years of accounting experience, ideally within oil and gas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with Enertia or similar accounting software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work on-site daily in a collaborative office environment.
