Lakeshore Talent is partnering with an upscale assisted living facility in Louisville, CO to fill a role for a night shift Caregiver. This will be starting as a 6-week contract but has a strong possibility to extend longer or go permanent. **Due to Covid precautions and to protect residents, employees cannot work at other health care or hospitality environments while working at this job.**

Hours: Scheduled 5 days a week between 10:00p-6:15a – will need to work every other weekend
Pay: $17.50

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides basic nursing care to residents within the scope of nursing assistant responsibilities and performs basic nursing procedures (possibly under the direction of a licensed nurse). Assist with dining services, care of resident laundry needs, assist the activity department with programming goals and perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successful candidates provide essential nursing care that involves assistance with daily living needs and providing emotional support to this generation

  • Perform nursing assistant duties in accordance with accepted standards of resident care
  • Duties may include intake and output, measuring height and weight, vital signs, specimen collection, catheter care, range of motion exercises, etc.
  • Recognize changes in the residents’ behavior and conditions
  • Care for the dying resident and provides postmortem care
  • Assist licensed personnel by providing basic nursing care to an assigned group of residents
  • Provide personal care for residents as needed, including bathing, showering, shampooing, oral hygiene, skin care, hair care, nail care, dressing, shaving, toileting, transferring, turning and positioning, ambulating, and transporting
  • Responsible for participating in and supporting resident activity programs
  • Assist residents with nutritional needs, including serving, feeding, providing proper fluid requirements, and offering substitutions when appropriate
  • Provide snacks and assist with following dietary guidelines for each resident (i.e. Low sugar, low salt, allergies, likes, and dislikes)
  • Create a congenial atmosphere in the dining area (dementia needs positive customer service)
  • Encourage residents to develop and maintain independence
  • Aid with the use of assistance devices in transferring, ambulating, eating, and dressing
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control in all resident care to prevent the spread of disease and infection
  • Adhere to strict infection control guidelines and reports any and all exposures to infection in accordance with OSHA and community guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Follow infection control guidelines and policies when handling personal laundry and linen service
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency policy and procedures
  • Demonstrate awareness of potential hazards and report unsafe conditions to appropriate community staff
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents, families, and staff (i.e. reports spills, faulty equipment, ensure a clear path for resident ambulation, appropriate use of wheelchair locks, etc.)
  • Utilize community resources and maintain open communication with all community staff departments
  • Communicate skillfully with all residents, including those with sensory losses and/or dementia
  • Receive and report on residents’ conditions and changes in conditions to the care manager at the beginning and end of each shift (immediately in cases of emergency)
  • Assist staff/care manager in the development of the residents’ interdisciplinary service plan and uses the service plan information to provide daily resident care
  • Document residents’ information accurately and daily on the appropriate forms
  • Provide privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ensure the residents’ right to make personal choices in agreement with the residents’ service
  • Promote residents’ participation in activities
  • Ensure care and security of residents’ personal possessions
  • Provide care that ensures residents are free from abuse, mistreatment, and neglect, and immediately reports any such instance to the appropriate community staff
  • Provide care to avoid the need for chemical restraints by maintaining a safe environment for residents
  • Attend all in-service education programs mandated by state, and federal guidelines
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement in all job responsibilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS:

  • Talent, passion, and desire for interacting with a wide variety of people (residents, resident families, etc.)
  • Basic ability to read, write, understand, and speak the English language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS:

  • High School graduate or GED preferred
  • Customer service experience a plus
  • Knowledge and experience as a caregiver preferred but not required (training provided)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods
  • Ability to push and pull objects and lift and carry up to 30-55 pounds, unassisted (based on facility location)
  • Full use of hands, arms, and legs (i.e., washing, feeding, and dressing residents, writing notations, operating bed wheel locks, etc.)
  • Willing to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, on holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary
  • May be exposed to unpleasant odors, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens
  • This is a pet-friendly community; you may be exposed to animal hair and dander
