Lakeshore Talent is seeking a Senior Employee Relations Specialist. This position will plan, coordinate and facilitate a broad range of functions and projects related to Labor, Union and Employee Relations. This will be an on-site position paying $70-$90K. 


  • Manages the day to day administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement including the grievance and arbitration process; produces accurate and timely written responses and various other communications and discourse to ensure thorough, accurate, timely and effective adjudication of employee complaints and grievances; works with management and union leaders to resolve disputes and proactively avoid issues.

  • Provides coaching on employee performance, disciplinary actions, terminations, rules and policies interpretation, workplace threats and violence, and contract or handbook interpretation.

  • Maintains excellent business relationships internal and external stakeholders.

  • Reads, reviews, and reports to management on court cases, arbitration decisions, legislation and labor trends, which may have a direct impact upon group operations.

  • Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and skill base through training and research.

  • Ensures conformity to legal, corporate, and group requirements and practices by conducting reviews of human resources practices at plants.

  • Supports and ensures compliance and timely execution of corporate and division initiatives.

  • Assists other members of management in developing, revising and updating consistent policies and systems.

  • Develops and maintains progressive relationships with Union leadership via strong communication processes and initiatives; utilizing the relationship building process as part of the overall development and implementation of a strong Labor Relations strategy.

  • Works closely with Corporate Human Resources (benefits, compensation) to ensure alignment with corporate policies and procedures during the negotiations process.

  • Ensures compliance with the National Labor Relations Act and other applicable laws.

  • Assists in the negotiation of Collective Bargaining Agreement and associated labor agreements and administers negotiated agreements.

  • Develops, recommends and implements strategies for labor contract negotiations



  • A bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Personnel Administration or Business Administration and a minimum of five (5) years of Labor Relations/Union Relations experience required

  • Certifications/Licenses/Other: SHRM SCP, preferred

  • Employee Relations, labor relations, union avoidance, union-management relations, negotiation of labor contracts, contract construction and enforcement, discipline administration, arbitration and conflict resolution, regulatory and legal compliance of Federal, State, Provincial, and local levels.

  • Knowledge of EEOC and NLRB regulations and processes and additional labor & employment law

  • Experience with the arbitration process and decisions and contract administration

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and ability to demonstrate logical progressive thought patterns required

  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
