Position: Revenue Accountant
Location: The Woodlands, TX or Denver, CO
Schedule: Monday – Friday; 40 hours per week
Salary: $80k – $120k (depending on experience)
Work Environment: On-site Monday – Thursday, remote on Friday

Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Revenue Accountant to join our client’s accounting team within the oil and gas sector. This position plays a critical role in revenue management and forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance. The ideal knowledge will bring knowledge of upstream revenue operations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile revenue received with purchaser payments and verify alignment with metered production volumes
- Conduct and explain monthly revenue variance analysis as part of the close process
- Ensure revenue accounts receivable are accurately offset against cash receipts
- Support the month-end close and internal financial reporting activities
- Track and record monthly non-operated interest bookings and payments
- Coordinate the generation and distribution of royalty statements and address royalty owner inquiries
- Act as a key contact for internal departments, external owners, and auditors
- Prepare and file state royalties and severance taxes as required
- Complete assigned monthly reconciliations and maintain all SOX compliance controls
- Organize and maintain electronic records related to revenue activities
- Respond to audit requests with source documentation and reporting
- Mentor junior accountants or financial analysts
- Assist in resolving complex accounting issues related to upstream operations
- Maintain adherence to internal accounting policies, procedures, and controls
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 2-8 years of accounting experience, with a focus on revenue, closing, and reporting
- Prior work experience in the oil & gas industry required; upstream operations preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Hands-on experience with oil & gas ERP systems
- CPA certification is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- High degree of integrity, initiative, and organizational skill
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
