Lakeshore Talent is partnering with a reputable Non-Profit client in their search for a strategic and hands-on Director of Accounting & Billing to lead core financial operations within a growing, mission-driven organization.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance, this role works alongside a peer Director of Finance who focuses on strategy, while you will lead the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and process optimization efforts.
Location: Aurora, CO – Hybrid (in-office every other week)
Schedule: Monday – Thursday (40 hours/week)
Salary: $123,000 – $150,000 + comprehensive benefits
What You’ll Do
- Lead accounting, billing, and accounts payable operations with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Oversee monthly close, financial reporting, and revenue recognition processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations (including 2 CFR 200)
- Partner with leadership to support strategic planning and financial decision-making
- Strengthen financial processes, internal controls, and reporting capabilities
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk considerations
- Interpret contract requirements and ensure financial compliance across programs
- Serve as a key liaison for audits, tax filings, and insurance renewals
- Identify and implement automation, system enhancements, and AI-driven solutions
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals

What You Bring
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams in organizations of 50+ employees
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, compliance, and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems and financial tools
Preferred:
- CPA designation
- Experience in nonprofit or regulated environments
- Public accounting background
- Experience with NetSuite
- 5+ years of leadership experience
