Service Technician – Trailers

Lakeshore Talent is currently hiring on behalf of Merritt Trailers for a skilled and dependable Service Technician to join their Parts & Service team in Fremont, Nebraska.

Position Details

  • Location: Onsite – Fremont, NE
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Pay: $25.36–$27.00/hour, depending on skills and experience
  • Employment Type: Contract-to-hire (120 days) with potential for permanent conversion

Job Overview

This is a hands-on role focused on trailer repair, maintenance, and fabrication for livestock and commercial trailers. The Service Technician will play a key role in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and road-ready while supporting day-to-day service operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain livestock and commercial trailers
  • Perform air system, ABS, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and structural repairs
  • Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, and DOT-related services
  • Fabricate and repair components using steel and aluminum (cutting, grinding, welding)
  • Read work orders, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Document completed work for billing and warranty purposes
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized shop
  • Work closely with teammates to meet productivity and quality goals

 

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in repair, maintenance, or technical service roles
  • High school diploma or GED
  • MIG welding experience (steel and aluminum)
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform basic shop math
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently as skills progress

 

Requirements

  • Must provide personal tools (tool list available; assistance may be provided)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, kneeling, climbing)
  • Willingness to work 40+ hours per week as needed
