People Operations Business Partner (Contract – Remote)
Duration: 6 months (strong potential for extension or permanent hire)
Pay: $45–$50/hour
Schedule: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM MT
Location: Remote (AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI)
Preference for Mountain Time; Pacific and Central considered
About the Role
We are seeking a senior-level People Operations Business Partner to serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees across the organization. This role is heavily focused on performance management and manager coaching, with light investigation volume along with a focus on Leaves & Accomodations. You will partner closely with leaders to navigate complex employee matters with sound judgment, consistency, and compliance rigor.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise leaders on employee relations matters including performance concerns, workplace conflict, attendance, and policy interpretation.
- Coach managers on feedback delivery, documentation, corrective action, and difficult employee conversations.
- Support performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, severance conversations, and organizational changes.
- Conduct objective workplace investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
- Partner with Leave and Accommodations teams on cases involving overlapping employee relations considerations.
- Conduct exit interviews, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve employee experience and retention.
- Maintain accurate case documentation and analyze trends using HR case management and HRIS systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 3 years focused on Employee Relations.
- Experience supporting performance management, corrective actions, workplace conflict resolution, and employee investigations.
- Strong understanding of employment law fundamentals and multi-state compliance.
- Excellent judgment, documentation skills, and ability to apply policies consistently.
- Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence leaders at all levels.
- Experience with HR Acuity, Workday, and Google Workspace preferred.
