Merritt Trailers is seeking a Territory Sales Manager to grow sales and market share for their livestock and gooseneck trailer lines. You will manage the full sales pipeline, lead direct livestock trailer sales, develop the gooseneck dealer network, and build lasting customer and dealer relationships across an assigned territory.
- Territory/Location: Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota
- Pay: $50,000 base salary plus commission, with total first-year compensation guaranteed at $100,000. The commission guarantee ends when earned commissions exceed $50,000 or after 12 months, whichever occurs first.
- Travel Requirements: Sixty to Eighty percent travel, including forty to sixty percent being overnight travel within the territory (company vehicle and travel reimbursement included)
What you will do:
- Build and execute a territory sales plan aligned with company revenue goals.
- Prospect, generate leads, manage opportunities, and close business across direct and dealer channels.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and support dealers to expand territory coverage and gooseneck trailer sales.
- Strengthen relationships with key accounts and dealer partners through regular communication and joint customer calls when needed.
- Review pipeline, backlog, conversion rates, dealer performance, and other sales metrics to identify opportunities and remove bottlenecks.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and submit timely call reports, activity logs, monthly metrics, and expense reports.
- Partner with marketing and operations, and represent Merritt Trailers at trade shows, conferences, and dealer events.
What you bring:
- Proven B2B sales experience; trailer, agriculture, or transportation industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to independently manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through close.
- Experience building and supporting a dealer network.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, organization, and time-management skills.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems; Pipedrive experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with livestock and gooseneck trailers or the ability to quickly learn technical product specifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience may substitute.
- Clean driving record and driver’s license required
