General Manager
Location: Brighton, Colorado
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Work Schedule: 80% office / 20% field
Compensation
- Salary: $180,000 – $220,000
- Bonus: Performance-based
Position Overview:
The General Manager provides executive leadership for a long-established mutual ditch and reservoir organization serving both municipal and agricultural water users along Colorado’s Front Range. This role oversees water delivery operations, infrastructure, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and staff leadership while serving as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations of reservoirs, canals, ditches, pipelines, and water delivery systems
- Ensure compliance with Colorado water law, water rights decrees, and regulatory requirements
- Manage field operations, senior staff, contractors, and consultants
- Oversee maintenance programs, capital improvement projects, dredging, and materials mining activities
- Support budgeting, financial oversight, audits, and water lease agreements
- Advise and report to the Board of Directors and implement strategic initiatives
- Represent the organization with shareholders, municipalities, regulators, and partner agencies
- Lead long-term planning, emergency preparedness, and system modernization efforts
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven people leader with director-level or senior management experience
- Strong background in Colorado water administration
- Experience leading field operations, infrastructure projects, and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational stability and culture
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, water resources, agriculture, natural sciences, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in water management, irrigation, natural resources, agriculture, or public works
- 5+ years in a management or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of Colorado water law and water rights administration
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in water resources, business, or leadership
- Experience with ditch companies, irrigation districts, or municipal water providers
- Familiarity with dredging, mining oversight, environmental compliance, and permitting
