Pay Rate: $20-$21/hr
Type: Contract to start with potential to move to a permanent position!
Position Overview
The Grader & Merchandise Sorter plays a critical role in ensuring stones are carefully matched, accurately categorized, and quality-checked before distribution. This position requires patience, precision, and strong organizational skills to maintain consistency and uphold quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully analyze, match, and categorize colored stones for jewelry-making, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards
- Weigh, sort, and count stones with accuracy using basic math skills
- Maintain detailed, legible records and complete necessary paperwork for inventory and quality control
- Follow established procedures for invoice processing, store requests, and inventory management
- Collaborate with team members to support continuous quality and workflow efficiency
- Assist with monthly inventory counts and additional related duties as needed
Qualifications
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong manual dexterity and good vision for handling small jewelry stones
- Basic math proficiency, including decimals, fractions, and percentages
- Clear, legible handwriting and organized record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards
- Reliable, self-directed, and open to constructive feedback during quality checks
Preferred Skills
- Experience with inventory systems such as SAP or similar software
- Hobbies or pastimes that demonstrate precision and craftsmanship (e.g., model building, jewelry making, painting, knitting)
- Prior hands-on experience working with small items in a detailed production or quality control setting
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in sorting, quality control, or jewelry-related work is a plus, but not required
Additional Requirements
- Strong vision, excellent hand dexterity, and legible penmanship
- Comfortable working in a focused, heads-down environment (listening to music or podcasts permitted)
- Ability to travel occasionally to store locations (approximately 5%)
