Lakeshore Talent is in search of a Purchasing Coordinator to support a dynamic food sourcing and procurement team in Aurora, Colorado. This is a 4-month contract opportunity ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with vendors, managing purchasing processes, and supporting large-scale inventory operations.
This role plays a key part in maintaining inventory staples and supporting the procurement of food and supply items used across multiple programs, grants, and partner initiatives. The Purchasing Coordinator will work closely with the Purchasing Manager and Senior Buyer to help ensure products are sourced efficiently, orders are accurate, and deliveries run smoothly.
Position Details
- Contract Length: 4 months
- Pay Rate: $21.00 – $24.90 per hour
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Location: Aurora, CO
Position Overview
The Purchasing Coordinator is a multi-faceted role and an integral member of the Food Sourcing team. In this temporary capacity, the coordinator will assist with purchasing operations and help maintain key inventory items.
This role supports procurement for routine inventory as well as special projects, grants, partner needs, and internal programs. Responsibilities include evaluating products, placing purchase orders, tracking spending across multiple funding streams, coding and submitting invoices, and resolving vendor or quality issues.
The Purchasing Coordinator also helps manage the logistics of purchased shipments, communicating with vendors and internal operations teams regarding delivery schedules, product discrepancies, pricing issues, and quality concerns. Working closely with the Senior Buyer, this role contributes to decisions regarding inventory variety, quantity, and order placement.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory and Cost Management (70%)
- Support the Senior Buyer in sending product bids to vendors, collecting and reviewing bids, and placing purchase orders
- Verify product deliveries and code invoices for purchased items
- Assist in overseeing purchasing activity tied to a budget exceeding $20M
- Monitor product allocations between distribution locations
- Track delivery schedules and troubleshoot receiving or delivery issues
- Serve as a primary point of contact with internal operations teams to resolve discrepancies related to quantity, cost, product quality, or delivery timing
- Conduct product quality testing and compare cost and quality among potential items
- Ensure adherence to organizational food safety standards and work collaboratively with internal teams to maintain compliance
Supplier Relations (10%)

Support and maintain relationships with more than 50 suppliers to ensure quality, product variety, and cost efficiency
Data Analysis and Purchasing Support (10%)
- Work with the Senior Buyer on inventory replenishment based on reporting and demand trends
- Assist with product specifications and regulatory compliance requirements
Record Keeping and Vendor Management (10%)
- Create orders and maintain purchasing records in internal systems
- Code and process invoices for accurate reporting
- Maintain organized department files and documentation for vendor and product requirements
- Protect the confidentiality of sensitive internal and partner information
- Assist with additional projects and duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- Data entry experience required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
- At least 1 year of purchasing experience preferred
- Experience in food or beverage distribution preferred
- Familiarity with collaborative tools for file sharing, scheduling, and virtual communication
