Legal Administrative Assistant – Bilingual Spanish Preferred

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Legal Administrative Assistant to support attorneys specializing in Worker’s Compensation cases. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional to thrive in a small, supportive office environment located in Chicago’s downtown core. The role offers a competitive annual salary of $53,000, with benefits including basic health coverage and a collaborative team atmosphere.

In this role, you’ll be the vital first point of contact for clients and internal team members, managing both administrative and clerical tasks with precision. Your attention to detail will shine as you prepare and file court documents within the Illinois Worker’s Compensation system, including familiarity with the Compfile electronic filing system. Effective communication skills, especially bilingual abilities in Spanish, are preferred to manage diverse client interactions confidently. The position is 100% in-office, Monday through Friday, with supportive team members who value flexibility, initiative, and professionalism.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior experience with Workers’ Compensation cases strongly preferred
  • Experience with Compfile or similar electronic filing systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Good interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Bilingual Spanish language skills a huge plus
  • Experience with medical record and bill requests
  • Familiarity with Chicago County courts including Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, Lake, and Kendall counties
  • Willingness to learn new software applications like Abacus for diary management
  • Customer service experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1+ years of legal secretary or administrative assistant experience in a law firm, especially in Worker’s Compensation or personal injury

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check (minimum 7 years criminal record review)
  • Background check required; COVID vaccination preferred but not required
  • Commitment to working full-time in-office from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional early departures on Fridays when business permits
