Location: Sacramento, CA
Travel: 10% – 25% travel to participants’ homes and to cover at other facilities as needed. Mileage is reimbursed and drive time is included in hours worked.
Pay Rate: $33.17 – $41.49 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Job Description
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) carries out physical therapy programs for participants and assists in planning and revising program services. The PTA also provides education to participants, caregivers, and staff in accordance with physician orders and all applicable regulations.
Responsibilities include:

Deliver physician-prescribed physical therapy treatment in areas such as modality, therapeutic and functional mobility, and other services outlined in the participant care plan, under the supervision of and in collaboration with the physical therapist.

Provide personalized training for participants and caregivers.

Report patient incidents, variances, or complaints to the supervising Physical Therapist immediately.

Consult with the PT to determine whether treatment plans should be continued, modified, or terminated.

Participate in educating patients and families on therapy programs, home activities, and safe daily living practices.

Contribute to in-service programs, patient care planning, and interdisciplinary team meetings.

Document medical records, progress notes, and care plan updates accurately and in a timely manner.

Monitor participant condition changes and communicate updates to the PT and care team.

Assist in planning and revising therapy programs to address participant needs.

Educate caregivers and staff on safe techniques and approaches to support participant functioning.

Guide and direct rehab aides in implementing therapy activities.

Manage and maintain Durable Medical Equipment (DME), including fitting, educating participants on use, and ensuring appropriate documentation.

Recommend equipment and supply purchases, and oversee orders in collaboration with the supervising PT.

Ensure compliance with all documentation and charting requirements.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
Associate’s Degree from an APTA-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program in Physical Therapy.

Minimum of 1 year of experience working with the frail or elderly population.

Experience with and understanding of the Colorado Physical Therapy Practice Act as it applies to the role of Physical Therapist Assistant in a Colorado healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
-
2+ years practicing as a PTA.
