Lakeshore Talent is in search of a Database Engineer III for a remote, contract opportunity supporting enterprise-level data initiatives. This is a 3-month contract, with the potential for extension and/or contract-to-hire based on performance and business needs.

Compensation: $65 – $68.71 per hour

Position Overview
The Database Engineer III is responsible for the overall development, testing, and deployment of database products within a cloud environment. This role focuses on database architecture, data integration, and analytics development, working with very large datasets to support business and technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Design and create complex data models and develop cloud-based data products to support business needs

Analyze informational requirements, including data relationships, attributes, data flow, storage, and reporting capabilities

Define logical attributes and interrelationships, designing scalable data structures aligned with business objectives

Develop, test, and deploy database applications using database management and programming tools

Gather and analyze system metrics to identify issues and implement performance enhancements with measurable benchmarks

Collaborate with DBA and production services teams to monitor and optimize data products in production

Own the design and modeling aspects of data projects throughout all project stages, ensuring alignment with IT strategy and architecture

Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to proposals for new IT services, pilots, and production solutions

Participate in business requirement sessions, technical whiteboarding, and SQL coding/debugging discussions

Mentor junior Database Engineers and provide technical leadership as needed

Work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment and initiative
Required Experience & Qualifications

5+ years of data management experience proposing, documenting, and implementing technology solutions, with a focus on database architecture and data integration

8+ years of hands-on experience working with data in a developer role using advanced engineering and analytics principles

Advanced proficiency in SQL (any flavor), including design, development, and deployment of data warehouses or relational/analytical data marts

Strong experience with relational database management systems and ELT development

Experience debugging complex data issues involving very large datasets with billions of records

Proven ability to collaborate with both business and technical audiences

Strong understanding of SDLC standards and ability to drive work from intake through final solution

Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience

Experience with virtual data warehousing or Snowflake DWaaS

Experience with cloud migrations

Experience building data pipelines on Azure following cloud deployment best practices
Technology Environment
- Databases: SQL (any flavor), Snowflake
- Cloud Platforms: Azure (ADF, Synapse, Azure SQL)
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
